You can hurt your butt more by spending more money on a brand name kit or shocks to get the same result , I have owned many harleys (6 as of today) and I have tried plenty of brands of Shocks and lowering kits and spent $$$$ thinking that it was going to be to a huge difference in the ride and at the end basically there was only a very slight difference in the ride quality when I replaced the shocks , In my opinion not worth $300 dollars or more all these companies ask
Here are a couple of pics of our $20.00 lowering kit installed on my Personal 2009 Harley Crossbones , The ride is really smooth , I lowered all the way to max at about 2" inches and no complaints , even some of my friends that have ride the bike cannot believe how nice it rides , no bouncing , No issues , No Hurt *** here

I used a kit from http://www.softailloweringkit.com/ and it lowered my wife's Deluxe about 1.5" without sacrificing rideability or comfort. It was quite simple to install and you DO NOT have to remove the shocks to do it... Check out their video!

VMSRACING are great guys to deal with. I purchased my lowering bolts from them at their Ebay store for $16.99 shipped. I had them in hand within 3 days. After you install them you can tighten up the preload on your shocks and that will help a lot.

Then purchase a Progressive 10-2003 drop in lowering kit for the front and get the lowered stand from the dealer. Save yourself some money. Or for the front you could go with a set of FLH tubes which will lower the front 2".

I am 280, and never bottomed out on my dropped Heritage with 422s. I have lowering bolts on my fatboy and I hit bottom often.
