My Indy does a Big Bore install in the winter for less than $1k, so I figure that's the difference between the two. You will be getting much more than a regular 103" motor when its done.
My local HD dealer is running a special right now that if you buy a 2011 they will install a 103 kit for free. If you already have an '11 or older they were selling the kits for $750 I think. I'm going to put a 103 kit on my WG this winter. For now I'm riding.

"They should of warned me last February when I threw down the cash for the 2011."

Seriously?? That makes no sense. They sell bikes, they dont find reasons to delay sales or discount.

There will always be a model next year with one more hoosawhatchamcallitdoohickey. Bikes, electronics, cars etc. At some point you just buy and get over it.

Aye this ^^.

To the peeps wondering why it sounds I am paying a lot, 2k for parts and $110/hr labor. Also once installed they are keeping it for a week and make sure all the tuning and kinks are ironed out before handing over. Then back at 1.6k km for final tune and service.

Also both Calgary dealerships compares in price...not much wiggle room to negotiate. At least I get 10% dealership bucks and a 300 discount on my next $1k+ buy.

I understand, it's just memory may serve in a few years if it comes to buying again. I believe in loyalty...goes both ways.

if HD is is anything like Apple , i can tell you from personal experience , the dealer's don't get details of the new products until the official announcement and press release . sure there are rumors and guesses , but you'd be just as ticked off if a salesperson told you to wait for some new feature and you delayed your purchase and the new model didn't have whatever .

and even if we assume the salesperson knew the 2012s would have 103"s , did you tell the him you really wanted a one ?

The dealers don't have a clue until they go to the meeting in Vegas (I think that's where it is). Harley doesn't tell them much in advance for just that reason. Anyways, I feel your pain because after all the money I spent on my 103, The new bikes are a few bucks cheaper then I paid for mine, plus already have the 103. That being said, the cams make more difference then the 103, and if you're doing heads, they will make more difference then the 103 and cams put together. You could easily keep it at 96, get a great set of heads and cams, and leave a stock 103 in the dust. If you think about it, a well built 95" (up from 88) will kill my bike with the 103 and cams. So did you get ripped off? Not at all. Good luck with your build, and let me know what heads you're going with. I can't decide if I should have my stock heads CNC'd or get some bolt ons. I'll likely use my stock ones because in the end I should get more power for less money. There is a local guy that does a great job of them.

This makes me feel a little bit better...dropping bike off today and will get more info on exactly what is included in headwork.

The jump from 96" to 103" without cams or head work (and thats what the 2012s are) is really no big deal. The screamin eagle kit comes with 255 cams, stage 1 a/c, and flat top pistons. It should eat up a stock 2012 103. So, even if you got the 2012, you'd have to spend for the cams, a/c, labor and the tune and even then your compression would prolly be less then you will have now.
If your thinking about getting the heads done, nows the time before the tune.

P.S. that price seems high. That stage 2 kit is like $1100.00. Dyno run should be under $300.00 Labor at $110 hr. and they should be able to do it in under 8hours. Thats $2416.80 with 6% sales tax. Unless you have some other thinks worked in.
