I'm not an expert on tire tech but I mounted my Metzlers by hand and I can tell you that bead is very tight. I couldn't see it failing even on a horrendous pothole unless you did something horrible to your rim first. But that's a factor on any tire. On the other hand I see the smaller sidewall as an advantage. If you do get a garden variety blow out (sharp road debris) without much sidewall it's less distance to drop and less wobble while you're trying to slow down.
