Magnum cables shield wear

The cable shield is generally the metallic braiding, so your Magnum's wore through the outside clear jacket and into the shield? Definitely friction contact. J &P Cycles offer a good selection of clamps to better isolate. Fixing the blemish...maybe rolling several layers of clear, packaging tape (1.5" width), or if you remove the cable, slip a couple pieces of clear heat-shrink tubing over it.
My issues with the Magnum's (Chromite sterling units) are brown discolorations throughout the length which appear to be on the surface of the braid. I don't understand this as my bike is garage kept and seldom ridden in rain.

Those are the ones Fat Mike but don't let that stop you. They are great cables and I would buy them again. Mine were just not routed very well and they were rubbing on some sharp metal parts. I sleeved the worn areas and rerouted the cables right after my original post and no problems since.
