Default Need validation one last time - slip-ons + stock

I know I've read this stuff a hundred times but want to make sure...

True or false (most of the time)?

Your average slip-ons (Cycle Shack Slash cut) installed on a stock bike with no Air cleaner mod does NOT need to be tuned.

RE: 2006 FXSTSI. I'm going nuts with the stock stealth mufflers. I feel like I am asking to get plowed on the highway without more volume in the exhaust to alert people I'm there. I have a spare set of slip-ons from another bike so threw them on tonight. Fired up fine and idled fine. I'm 95% sure I'll have no issues except maybe some decel popping. I will have a full Stage I done in the future. But for now, I'd like at least one person to be my 5% and give me a thumbs up that I'll be fine until then.

Thanks.

Thats what Ive heard, its the air cleaner that makes the biggest difference. But then again the bikes run super lean from the factory, they need the pc111 or other just to make them run properly....

Here's another validation for you...
As long as you don't modify your air intake, you don't have to get the bike tuned. I have had two sets of pipes on my bike (Cycle Shack, and V&H) and they ran and sounded awesome!

Your good to go -- had a set of SE II slip on's on my last Dyna and nothing else done -- didn't give me an ounce of trouble -- 6K miles on them when I sold it for my HC...have fun!

Cool. Saved $$$ on this deal too. CS slip-ons (with a Softail part no) would have run me about $200. Had a set from a Sporty that fit. It was a sunk cost, $127 shipped new, so essentially they are free. Gives me some volume until I can afford the full system.

Check your plugs once you get them on to see how your mix is. You'll know when you ride it pretty much if it's way lean or slightly lean. I have a carb bike so it's a matter of jet selection, but me personally... I'd remap if it can be set electronically to be spot-on.. I'd do the air-cleaner kit first though.. Then you've got the two bolt-on performance upgrades done.. finito.

Put Cycle Shack slip-ons on my 2007 Deluxe and it ran fine. Just a little bit of pop on decel but hardley noticeable. I'm now getting ready to put a full V & H Big Shot system on and will definitely retune the ECM.

Not to highjack the thread, but taking it one step further...slip-ons + AC will the HD stage 1 download do the trick without going to SERT, PCIII, or Fuel Pak?

I did the HD Pro Torque slip-ons........racing. Added the A/C and went with the HD "race download". After 3000 miles, mine is running great, temp is good and the plugs look great. Decel popping is not a problem with my setup. Runs great, sounds great.
My only suggestion, make sure you get the proper download if you go that route.......the wrong one and look for issues.
Just my experience, goodluck!
