Default Heritage Kick stand

Just bought a new2012 Heritage (traded in my Street Bob), and I am loving it!

The ONLY thing I am NOT liking is the kick stand! I'm O.K putting it down, but am having a heck of a time trying to reach it to kick it up. I'm only 5'-4" (not even, really). My legs are short, I have to scootch way up on the seat, get my foot in an awkward postion just to swipe at the edge of it in hopes of it catching the tread in my boot so i can lift it!!! Hubby suggested I kick the floorboard up first, giving me more room to reach the kickstand, but that isn't working any better, really!

I have seen the kickstands with the piece that sticks up supposedly to make it easier to reach but I don't see how that would really help. Maybe it does, but if I still have to reach my foot around in an awkward position I don't see how it will make much difference?

Any ideas on this from experience??

Yeah, these are the things I was talking about. I guess I don't see how that will help, it seems like they are more for helping put the kickstand DOWN? But I could be wrong. Maybe I should check it out and talk to the dealer (don't necessarily have to get one from them :-) ) just to see what THEY say. Or maybe there are some used bikes on the lot with them and I could try one, before spending money.

Thanks for the input!

Would a reach seat help by moving you forward a bit?

Anxious to hear your results as I, too, am 5'5" and have a hard time putting the kickstand back up on my 2011 Heritage. Seems like it was easier on a 2009 Softail I used to ride.

Danny - I'm sure the Reach seat WOULD move me up, but 1) I have known a couple people who have HATED the Reach seat (although I hear a lot of people love them, and 2) I really like the look of the stock seat. I AM in contact with Mean City Cycles about possibly working on my seat after riding season (which I don't even want to think about right now!!!!)

I am 5'6" on a good day. 04 Heritage and have the same problem. At first I had no idea what I was going to do, no I scooch forward a bit, extend my boot toe as far as I can and swoop it up. Used to it now I guess. Also, keeping it lubed well will help it come up easier!! um...things that sound dirty but arent!!
