I have the same build and had a good tune by one of the best. It would still ping at 5 and 6th excell . I switched out the Big Shot Staggered I had with the Short Shot Staggered from Vance and Hines pinging gone. I don't know what I did but its gone. I tried everything to get rid of it and by chance this worked.

Cam change or retarding the 255s is the next step.
No, but can you not adjust timing with the power commander itself?

Do you have auto tune with yours?

No I run SERT. I had two different tuners try and tune those V&H pipes BSS one of them is one of the best tuners in the Dallas area, they could not get it dialed in. I am now running the tune for the BSS on the Short Shots and it runs very well. I did lose some low end torque (not verified) seat of the pants but I did gain some top end with the shorter pipes but no pinging.

Ok, so I talked to the local HD's head wrench about it today and he said they've been getting a lot of complaints about it lately, and since we are a pretty small province and all the gas stations get their gas from the same supplier, he figures we're getting bad gas. He also said that the only real way to get rid of it is to add a little fuel and set the timing back a little. Really nothing new there, but at least I know I'm not the only one around going through the same thing. Guess I'll go with plan "A" and get the auto-tune and run the PCV, and some octane boost until then. Thanks for the help guys, I'll update in a few weeks once I get the new setup dialed in.
