Default HD Fatboy Seat Strap Question

I recently purchased a almost-new HD seat that looks like a sundowner. The question I have is that when I installed the seat and seat strap, the strap really snugs down the top of the seat. Is this normal? Is the strap really required?

Thanks for any info! -Rob

The straps usually mount to the underside of the seat so it comes off with the seat when you remove it to access the battery area. But, they're only there to satisfy the DOT requirement for the passenger to have a grab handle of some kind. I don't know of anyone that can actually use it. Mine is gone.

Take it off. If she wants to hang on she can hang onto you.

Removing that strap was my first mod. It is still in the top of my toolbox,I think.

No strap here either. Just ditch it.

I had the same problem with the harley aftermarket seat that has since gone the way of the doe doe. Nothing I did would make that thing fit so I scrapped it.

Adjust the strap by putting it through the next furthest hole. There should be more than one hole in the strap.
