I am looking at replacing the seat on my 03 Fatboy and I was curious how many out there has already done this and what did you go with? I am looking at a Mustang 75073, but the last Mustang I bought for my last bike was not all that compfortable.

 

The most comfortable seat I have found for the FB is the Mustang Wide Vintage - tried the Mustang Vintage, Mustang day tripper, Corbin solo, and a gel pad.

 

I put a Harley Sundowner on mine and its a 100% improvement over stock, but I still get butt burn after riding for a few hours. Don't know if its just my old age or if there really is a better choice in a seat out there.

 

I picked up a wide vintage solo mustang seat myself.. I think it's pretty comfy. There's one guy here though that proves just because a lot of people love them, it may not be for everyone. Everyone's butt and preferred poster is different. Seats, handlebars and foot position (pegs/floorboards/highway bars) are your biggest comfort decisions. If at all possible, try to actually sit on a mustang or corbin of some different styles, or any quality seat on a bike that interests you and the owner won't shoot you if you try out his seat. Strike up conversations with guy's at the local biker-nights or anywhere to try out their seats.. I'd say probably the two top brands are Mustang and Corbin.. Both constructed far better than the standard H-D seats. The rallies where the two companies have booths setup are very helpful as you can usually try out a seat there. Danny Gray is another brand that comes to mind that seems to be growing. Having said all that.. I love my mustang.. Light years better than the stock fatboy seat laying in the floor of the garage now and the lepara solo-barhopper style seat it replaced.

I really like the Mustang Wide Vintage solo -- seems really firm when you first sit on it, but as you ride you notice your not getting fatigued and sore like the stocker -- my .02...

 

Sorry I haven't taken any yet with the rear seat installed, but the solo and rear installed it's very close to the single piece seat, if that's the one you're referring. I do at least have some pics in the gallery of the rear seat sitting ontop of the rider seat for size referrence.. The matching rear seat is definitely a substantial passenger seat in itself.
