08 Heritage 14" Chubby install Cable extensions question
Hey guys, trying to get prepared to install a set of Chubby WO572 14 inch apes on my 08 Heritage.
I currently have 4.5 in risers and it looks like the existing wires are long enough to fish through the bars but i may need 4-6" extensions to have enough to connect without binding.
I have a couple of questions regarding internally wiring the bars for you folks that have done this.
1. Are the stock wires long enough to get out of the Bars?
2. Can I leave the connectors on and pull them through?
3. If they are long enough and I can pull the wires through with the connector on can i just use the NAMZ wire extensions below?

Thanks for any advice.

I don't know the size of the connectors on the 2012 bikes, but in the past you have to disassemble the connectors to get the wiring through the bars so I would ASSUME it is the same on the newer bikes. It is also most likely you need more wiring for the hand controls.

Drew,
Thanks for the reply. I'll wait until I get the bars to see what I need.

ok new bars mocked up.
Installed new Barnett braided clutch cable and Throttle cables but still need to get a braided brake line (original 42" looks like I will need 48". Any recommendations on Braided Brake Line?)
I was able to remove the connectors from the control wires and pull through the bars. Did this inside as it was hot.
Reattached the original connectors and went out to the bike. Looks like is need to extend them by aprx 8 inches.
Question i have is this: i was able to get the stock wiring through the bars and have 4" of wire sticking out the bottom of the bars. I now know how to remove the wires from the connectors on the bar side or the wiring harness under the tank.. If I get a NAMZ or Novello wire extension can i just remove the bar side connectors again (without re-pulling the wires) and plug and play with the extensions no soldering just snap the wires together and heat shrink? I assume the wire extension come with a male and female end so i can use the existing male ends I remove from the connectors and snap into a female end, heat shrink and then install the new male ends into the connector and be good to go?
Any thoughts are welcome,
Jim
