I just changed out the SE filter with the K&N HD-0800 I think is the part number with a simple ocer over it that leaves the filter exposed. I went ahead and cover the filter with the rain sock just for added piece of mind and it also helps the K&N oil from drying out so quickly.

5yrs ago it was confussing, the SE filter was made by K&N but it wasn't their LIFE time filter. It was a paper throw away type.
The real K&N was only $18 more and a no brainer to get.
