Default New and VERY different Wheels!!!

I found these CLEAR polycarbonate wheels and wondered if anyone else had seen them.

They would look really slick on a bike with a lot of chrome. But at $2000 each there a bit out of my price range.

For a bit of info on them you can look here.

It's funny, the other night I was thinking about having a clear oil tank, and then I got to thinking about having clear parts of the motor so you could actually see some of the moving parts in action...

I think the problem is, that clear plastic would just end up looking cheap, and probably wouldn't stay clear. After a while I would imagine it would get hazy or scratched...

Holy cow, those are amazing. Not my style, but pretty cool nonetheless.

That was my first thought also, plastic, even the hard polycarbonate types can have their clarity diminished by all kinds of chemicals like brake fluid, brake dust. They might even be harder to keep clean just from the static charge that they can get. Can you imagine trying to clean off metalic brake dust from a static charged wheel? Be a nightmare getting the crap off without scratching the hell out of it.
One long trip to any of the big shows like Daytona and it would be wiped out.

But for a show only trailer queen it would be really nice.

Whoa! That looks kinda strange, but maybe if you put some goldfish in them... I don't know about running without a front brake either.

There was a custom bike show that blew through town here and one of the builders had a clear oil tank, fuel tank, and rocker boxes on the bike. It was for sure a trailer queen, but even for the little use that it had, the plastic had already started to discolor.

Huh? no way, probably be flamed for this but looks rice to me.

Like clear tailights on a Mustang, and at 2-grand each, that would[8D] buy me some sweet chrome wheels for my Harley & my Mustang.

I don't know, I just don't see it. Okay that was a poor attempt at humor.

Actually I got one thing to say - "not so much" - just not my cup of tea.

So did I, but if you look at it and remember that its a pic of a SEMA show bike. The lack of a front brake makes sense. The forks are blacked out and they used a unique hub without spacers to show off and call attention to the wheel itself. Personally I would have liked to see it with a nice two piece chrome or polished stainless steel rotor and chromed out 4 or 6 piston caliper.
In all likelyhood that bike was built as a show piece for the wheel and is a true trailer queen and like many of them doesn't even run. So the lack of a front brake isn't much of a safety issue at all. It does make you wonder if the wheel can handle the stresses that a brake can put on one, doesn't it.
