Default *FIXED* Speedo Vibration Noise (ROCKER)

Ok, my speedometer was vibrating when I reached certain RPM's. It was actually making more of a buzzing sound. After taking it apart, I realized it was held in place by a clip. This being the case, made it very difficult to try and tighten the speedometer. After looking at it for a couple of minutes, I realized that if I could shim out the clips it would tighten down the speedometer. So I cut 2 (two) 1/4" shims out of 26 gauge sheet metal. I installed them under one side of the clip and...voila! Problem solved. After I installed the metal shims, I put a couple drops of Lock-tite on to ensure that the shims do not vibrate out.
See pics....

Nice fix for not so great tolerances. These are the things that should have attention paid to at the manufacturer, but as long as we can figure them out, its all good. Good on ya.

Thanks for posting this..I think I have the same rattle. Bike is apart right now so will fix it now. Also, another source of possible vibration could be from the cheap *** plastic gear indicator piece that is held by another plastic clip...When I would look at the little flashing arrow or N light I noticed that it looked like it was slowly chipping away, I thought it was glass until I took it out..realized it was a clear piece of plastic! total replacement was 5.00 at the dealer....I thought for sure it would be at least 50.00. Thanks again.

Default I need to do this

My speedy does the same thing. I need to make the same fix on mine. Currently can't look at the pic. I have less than 5 posts, so I'm hoping this one counts towards that and I can see the pic soon.
