Went for a ride after an oil change and forgot to plug my voltage regulator back in.
Now the thing will start then just dies after a few min @ idle.
Put it back on the trickle charger and it does the same.
Did I kill the battery or something more serious????

Sounds like you may have fried the regulator and/or stator. I'd check voltage at the stator plug then again at the power wire from the regulator. Be careful when checking voltage at the stator plug (where the regulator plugs into it) so you don't cross pins otherwise she's toast. You should have in excess of 12 volts from the stator. If it tests good then move on to the regulator. If you have around 12 volts at the power wire coming from your regulator then you may have a **** battery or circuit breaker.
