if you ever ride in the rain get vinyl. A wet leather seat sucks big time.

I know I'm in the minority here but I want real leather - even if I have to have it redone every year or two. But my bike is also a weekend cruiser that only comes out on nice days. If it were a daily driver I might feel otherwise.

I have the 2-up Silouette Deluxe LePera with leather on top only. The seat still looks awesome after 2 years but I don't let it sit in the sun for any length of time without my Sunshade cover. I use Meguiars leather conditioner weekly, does a great job of keeping it looking good. It's developed a few small crinkles over time but I think it gives it character. I would get the leather again, has a look that vinyl can't match IMO.

I just bought the leather bare bones for my deluxe from vhrock in the classifieds section...can't wait to get it on! Leather, vinyl, I would have been happy with either one. I just want to sit lower and further back...I'm 6'3" so I need all the leg room I can get.

Thanks for all your replies folks, I'm still a little torn, I usually like to get the best I can and I only ever ride in nice weather, if My bike gets wet its because I've been caught out in it.
I want to get leather but the comment about a vinyl one always looking new was a good one, I think I need to see a leather one close up rather than just a picture, but I may go for vinyl and at some future point get it recovered with some kind on stitching pattern like some of the guys here have.
One of the problems we have over here in the UK is that, if you can find someone who sells the sort of stuff you want, its usually a good distance away and their prices are ridiculously high, I'm going to get some Ridewrights, and was eventually hoping to get a Shotgun shock, but a recent rethink is steering me towards getting the wheels, shock and seat all at the same time from the States, so that I can get them all shipped together.

Order the stitching when you order the seat. Lepera has many patterns to choose from.
