Question Heavy clank on shifting?

Hello,
My 2011 Fat Boy Lo came out of the gates with some big problems, so I may just be paranoid at this point, but the shifting seems a little odd.

Usually, and most noticeably when dropping in to 1st gear, it seems soft and what I would think of as normal. However, sometimes, and rather frequently, it feels and sounds like a hammer on an anvil.

Is this normal? Thanks!

My 2010 Heitage does the same. A whole lot less now though that it has a few miles on it.

Well, that's one less thing for me to worry about. I have a ton of similar dumb questions lined up, I just try to space them out a bit so I look less moronic.

Probably just me; but it's one of the reasons I love a Harley. There is very little else in the world that is as black and white as a gear change on a Harley. It does not apologize, it does not make excuses, it does not lie - it tells the world. Music to my ears Cheers, Kevin.

p.s. Sorry to hear about your other issues, hope they got them straightened out for you - that sucks buying a new bike and having issues. K.

Dude, ask away - this forum is way better than almost any I have been on; right up there with the Service Manual. 98% of the people are very cool and there is a ton of good information (although some of the opinions are little sketchy). Thanks for your service and enjoy the new bike, Kevin.

My 2011 Lo does it also.... it's the beast inside trying to beat it's way out... so twist the throttle, slam thru the gears, and let it roll....
