How soon after were you riding again?
Was wondering how many guys had to deal with a heart attack and how soon after were you back in the saddle? I had a heart attack on July 1st...had a stent put in and back home in two days..doc tells me 4 weeks and I'll be back to doing what I have always done. Happy to be alive but miss being on the sled...

Take your time .... if your like my friend after 6 weeks it will still wear you out to ride. Heal first ride later. Start out with very short rides like 15 miles. You will be amazed what your body will not do compared to what your brain will tell you that you can do. It took a few months for my friend to build up to long rides. He is in his 50s.

Like you said, take your Doctors advice, And I suppose it all depends on how strong your feeling.
I was ill with throat cancer 4 years ago and my Dr said to leave it for about 6 months, and thats what I did, but if I'm honest it should have been much longer than that, I was very weak and it was a struggle.
When you do get back on, just enjoy it, having a life threatening illness changes all your perspectives. Life is for living, its not a practice run.

My dad and I were at Yankee stadium and it looked like he had a heart attack but refused to let me take him to the hospital. Finally two days later he went for a checkup and they kept him in the hospital because he did at some point did have a heart attack and needed quintuple bypass surgery. They were only able to do quadruple and fixed one of his valves. He had a bad recovery with fluid in his lungs. He was sidelined for about 3 months before he rode his bike again. He drove after like 6 weeks but didnt want to take a chance not being able to handle the bike. We are going out for a ride tomorrow so we'll see how he does.
