Tire shelf life
#2
When I bought my 2003 FLSTC, the tires were nine years old with only 1,300 mile on then. All manufactures now say six years old and they have expired.
So if the tire has only a year of useful life and you are not going to wear it out in one year, don't use that tire.
The new tires I got were six months old. I've seen car tires as new as one old.

I try not to use anything more then a few years old. I wear them out in 6 months so I don't worry to much. I work for a DOD contractor and we won't mount anything older then two years as most of the equipment sits so long. We just changed out some tires at work that still had the little nubs on them. they looked brand new. i checked the date code and they were ten years old.
