Default Heritage seat holding water

Has anyone had a problem with the Heritage seat holding water ? The seat on my 2010 Heritage is not waterproof and holds water like a sponge. If the bike gets caught in the rain or after washing the bike, the water goes through the seams into the padding and when you sit on it, the seat expelles water like sitting on a twelve inch sponge. Never had a seat do this in over forty years of riding. They were always waterproof.

Most if not all vinyl covered seats will leak water. The leather covered seat are better and will take a long time to leak water through into the foam.

The best solution is to just get one of the rain covers they sell for seats and use it.

Havent noticed that problem.. I also put some of the HD leather treatment on the seams when I do the bags yearly.. maybe that helps.. also retired so I don't have to leave her out when it rains at work all day like some do.

As I said, over forty years of riding with many Harleys and many different seats and never seen this problem. I'm talking massive amounts of water soaked up in just a few minutes of sitting in the rain or washing the bike. Went to Johnstown Pa. Thunder In The Valley over the weekend ( showers included ) and had a wet *** the whole time.

Vinyl seats are known to leak through the stitching depending on how the stitching is set up. Leather seats will conform to the holes made by the stitches and squeeze them back shut and reseal them.

To seal the seams, use a spray wax like Pledge on the seat and rub it in. Problem is that this can make the seat slippery. One I've done before is to find a clear paste wax and just rub it into the stitches. Don't use the standard automobile white paste wax as this will leave white chit all over your seat.

Never had this problem on my Heritage...yet. I use a vinyl treatment called Vinylex. Keeps it soft and seams stay tight. The seat is stock and very comfortable.

Have the stock seat and have been caught in the rain several times and never noticed anything like that.

It's more when someone is not sitting on the seat but the bike is in the rain or when you wash it, but it don't take long.
