Fluid level is to just a little over the bottom of the clutch pack. If the bike is on the jiffy stand, you'll loose some fluid. Upright and you shouldn't loose any at all. I always reuse the cover gaskets on my primarys. I'm in there so much, it would cost a fortune to replace them every time. I always have a new one on hand in case one of them finally starts leaking but if you don't over torque the bolts, you can get a lot of re use out of them. HD wants you to replace them every time because they get about $10 a pop for them.

I have also been looking for one for a few weeks now. They usually sell for a lot more than what I am willing to pay. The dealer ran a search and no Dealer in the U.S. had the Flying Wheel derby cover or matching points cover for a Twin Cam. I just won a brand new Derby Cover on Ebay for $56.00. Now I just have to lay low for the points cover.

Idea!
I read this somewhere, put a scrap piece of 2X4 under the jiffy stand (kick stand). This should level the bike enough to minimize oil loss.
I would have a drain pan underneath and plenty of rags on hand though.
Also, might be a good idea to have a friend, not your wife, standing by to catch bike if you accidentally nudge it past the point of no return.

I do that all the time if I'm too lazy to put the jack under the bike. On my Heritage, a 2x4 block under the jiffy stand takes it to just short of being level so the bike won't fall over even though it's almost straight up.
