I reuse gaskets all the time. This is of course if they look to be in excellent shape and it will be easy to change it out if it leaks. Primary gaskets; all the time. I also have a new gasket on hand so that if it does leak, I can change it at my leisure. Now gaskets that require a lot of work to get to like tranny gaskets, I replace every time.

 

I wouldn't mind reusing the gasket since I was told they're not typical paper gaskets and instead are some sort of metal sandwiched between two pieces of material. I think I might just see how it pulls off and go from there. I'm gonna get another quote tomorrow to see how much that SOB is. I was surprised the derby cover gasket and drain plug o-rings was only $7.

Thanks bud! And your right about the later gaskets. Companies like Jim's use a silicone bead built in their gaskets and work well.
