Sturgis or bust 2011

My wife and I will be leaving from SW Michigan. Still debating on when. Was thinking leaving the 7th and getting there mid week, but our plans also have us going from Sturgis to Yellowstone and heading back to Michigan after a few days.
Was also thinking we may leave July 31st, do all the touristing in the Sturgis area for a couple days without as much of a crowd, then heading to Yellowstone, then on our way back stopping in Sturgis to see the crowd.

Ditto on Lampere..... over 40 and don't like the all nighter that BC has anymore. Like the more relaxed laid back atmosphere.

If anyone wants to get some scenic rides in, hit me up. There is one on that Tuesday at the air force base I'm stationed at. They get like 500 riders and police escort down the interstate, up Nemo Rd., down Vanocker Canyon, and into the heart of Sturgis. All escorted so no other traffic then you get private parking at city hall, free lunch and 1 beer, then they do a B1 Bomber flyover. During the lunch Willie G. showed up and was taking pictures with all of us active duty guys.

I'd like to go this year.....finally have enough vacation and $$$ but I'm not into camping. Any good places to stay in the area that aren't booked a year in advanced? Most of my freinds have gone and don't want to go back this year. I'd be leaving from St. Louis area.

I'll throw my hat into the ring here
This will be my 6th year. Leaving Aug 1 and taking a leisurely 7 days to get there. Stopping at Yellowstone, again, for a few days on the way home.
Been staying at No Name City and don't see any reason to change camp grounds since they have all the mod cons... pool, hot tubs, clean showers and 24hr food service.
My home movie of Sturgis last year, enjoy.... http://www.vimeo.com/14413203

The Spoke is a checkpoint for the Hoka Hey this year. We should be rolling in around the 7th or 8th I would think. Will probably have Challengers coming in for at least 2 or 3 days.
Hope you have a great time and say hello if you see me. I'll be on a black Springer Classic. Don't think there are all that many Springers in it this year. I only saw maybe 3 or 4 besides mine last year.
