Like repoman said, it's a fairly common modification.

I'm going to try and post a pic of a fatboy front wheel on a wideglide. You bike would look similar if you ignore the shocks and paint. Not my bike, just one I happen to have a pic of.

can be done just not with the stock nt fender. don't think there's anything unsafe about it. fatboy frt end is also wide without measuring the width of each i would be guessing how close they are. alot of new harley owners don't realize how many parts work and work safely on other harley models. i've seen plenty on the road lately like this.
look at the fat tire thread thats on here and you'll see what i mean about part interchangability. Seems like the ones that try are coming up with cheaper and cheaper ways of fat rear tires for pre06 softtails without the 3000.00 kits that are out there.
someone will chime in here that's done the front tire swap. that's what i like about this site. so stay tuned

If you strip the tins and cow bells off a fat boy it's the same front end as far as tubes and lower legs. Yes the wheel will fit on your front end . Make sure you use proper axle, wheel spacers,to center wheel and brake rotor. Check 06 and down because of offset design change on 07 fatboy. Check factory service manuals for reference. Not hard but please do it safe. You could also call a custom wheel mfg. tell them what bike you have. You should be able to buy a nice 18" with a low pro tire that will be a direct bolt on using all youy stock parts. This may give you the look and ride you are after. Just my .02 plus change! Good luck and think it through. Most times a couple extra bucks up front saves a lot of grief out back in the garage.

Here you go, night train with a fat boy front wheel. He's also added the rear fender, but it will give you an idea of what yours will look like. Also, jimhd89 is 90% right about the front ends. The lower legs are a little different, and the trees are slightly different. The fat boy trees don't have the 2* rake the night train and FXST have, and the fat upper section of the slider is a little longer on the Fat Boy.

Here is a picture of a set of fat boy legs, and a set of FXST legs. Notice the upper fat section of the leg is longer on the fat boy model. I also believe the brackets where the fender bolts on are slightly higher on the FXST model, but the fat boy fender will bolt on.

Here's another Train from HarleyDavidsonMontreal.com. Crazy Canuck posted a link to these guys on a similar thread they have lots of models with that setup.
