Hes complaining about when going into first it bangs, and also i took it for a ride and its hard and impossible to get it into nutraul downshifting from second, normal? i doubt it. as far has the bang when going into first it is loud. i asked him about his trans svc ever being performened (bike now has 2k) i dont know what harley calls for the trans svc as far as miles. any ideas guys? thanks

 

I have an 08 and it does the same banging thing, neutral is not a problem, just got it a few months ago though so I don't know if it's normal as I have nothing to compare it to. Rocker should have same tranny as other Softails though I assume? I am close to 5k and will be doing that service soon but when I bought it everything looked good, but has always done the banging. If I remember right one I teat rode at a dealer last summer also did the banging thing.

 

Pull the transmission dipstick and make sure it has enough fluid in it. Low tranny lubricant can make it do funny things.

 

Also adjsut the clutch on the cable so he can find neutral.

Mine shifted hard at first too. I was kinda caught off guard by it. However, I got new linkage and I think they adjusted it at the dealer because it doesn't do it as hard now.

 

Know as the Harley clunk. Normal when the bike is cold and happens at times and not at others.
I can find neutral from second gear.

 

Mines quite the bang too, but only when cold.. some people around me jump when they hear it or see the bike shake from it. But after a few miles.. it doesnt happen again, and as long as the bike doesnt sit for more then an hour or two (Depending on the temp) it wont do it again untill its been sitting and cooled down.

It shocked me at first too... Iv riden rice rockets before and they are SMOOTH!!

 

Mine does it only when cold. No problems finding neutral from second.
