dumb gravity fuel feed Q
Dumb question I am sure, but these harleys are my first foray into fuel injected bikes...prior bike have been carburetted gravity feed ones. Seems like on these bikes the fuel pump may act more like a fuel stream regulator than an essential pump (since fuel level is above the pump) so I am wondering...in an emergency where the pump stops working would one be able to limp home by bypassing the pump and running a fuel line between the fuel tank directly into the throttle body? Tried and failed/works? speculation? theories? thanks in advance.

the fuel pump inlet is at the bottom (close to the bottom of tank), the fuel is pumped thru a regulator (hose from pump to regulator)...the regulator has a hose connected to the quick connect fitting...then comes the fuel line to the throttle body...
i guess if the pump stops working we are fuct

No pump = no ride. The pump/regulator combo puts the pressure of the fuel at about 55 to 62 psi. Guess you need that for the injectors. According to the shop manaul, if your fuel psi is below 55 you will already have a bad running engine.
Symptoms: Hesitation, loss of power and bad fuel economy, or engine cuts out (feels like ignition problem)
So I guess trying a gravity feed is not going to work ...
