Motor cuts out during decel and downshift
Last couple weeks Ive noticed more popping during decel. Is that "too rich"? I've also had 3 occasions now that during downshift, 5th to 4th. I clutch, give gas...and get a phooot sound. kinda like a dud ladyfinger. so, motor cuts out, but not a big deal...yet...cuz i let off the clutch and it fires. Its an 02 stock 88 fuel inj. But it does have SEII slip ons. Any ideas? Too rich? New plugs? I'm plannin on a d&d fatcat system here shortly. Is it time for a stage 1 and a tune? Thanks for any help.
Regards,
Tim

Popping during decel can be too rich or too lean. Getting a blah or a backfire through the carb when cracking the throttle before the engine catches is usually too lean. Stage 1 with a tune is always required if it hasn't been done before. Some bikes run better, some you won't believe the difference.
First time I got on my GF's stock 2004 883, my first, second and third impression was, "what a POS". After I did the stage 1, the bike is really fun to ride.
If this just started happening more than normal, time to check your plugs and clean your air cleaner.

A year ago i coulda convinced her that making the harley run better was very very important... and she woulda understood. now that shes 6...goin on 18, she would be deeply hurt and majorly disgusted with me for even joking about that.
