The kind with 8 or 9 suction cups underneath. Do they stay put or move around?

+1 on the phantom pad, works great! The suction cups are not recommended for matte black paint jobs which I have, but the fender bib covers the area of where the suction cups stick. I always run a bib so it works for me.

They stay on and dont move around as long as there is a butt on them. My buddy found out the hard way, thought the suction cups would hold it there all the time. He got gas about 5 miles from his house, omn a solo ride, noticed it wasn't there and never saw it again.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to swap to a sprung solo and want a p-pad for the rare situation of carrying a passenger.

It all Depends,
But I think for the 'rare' occasion and short rides it is good.

I had one of those on my Softail, and here is the good and bad
Good :
  • It sticks and does not move around if your suspension is not too low or hard.
  • the heavier the passenger the better it gets .
  • It keeps your clean fender look, ultimate quick detach.
Bad :
  • Most of them are shaped flat so when you put them on the fender they end up tilting forward, and puts more of your passenger load on you, even with sissy bar, the infamouse 'helmet bump' was going on.
  • If your bike is lowered, and suspension travel is limited, your passenger will be bounced off really in a rough way and those bounces will move the pad around.
  • They start to leave markings on the paint with the suction cup, so you have to clean it and wax it properly if you care about that, that is not to say that a 2 up seat won't scratch the fender either !.
In general, I have the pad still laying around, but since I met my wife, she likes the Lepera Plush setup I have for her , and won't go any other way, the bike converts to this setup from my solo spring setup in about 5 minutes which is not too too bad. and the lepera gives me greater back support sometimes I even enjoy riding in it by myself as I can really roll the throttle without worrying about my *** slipping .

I couldn't justify spending several hundred bucks for the Heartland passenger seat for my Rocker with their conversion so I went with a suction cup pillion off eBay. Worked for a while but the lady complained so much, she went and bought the Butty Buddy. Loves it compared to the previous. Slight curve on the base to help hold on the fender too.
