Front brake not stopping bike well.

Front brake not stopping bike well.
Just changed the pads on the rear caliper and bike stops well and pads feel like they grip a lot better than before. This has now show cased how poorly the front brake is working. Pads have virtually no grip even squeezing hard on the lever. I guess you can call it a spongy feel. There is also a weird sound as you squeeze the front brake. It is like a buzzing sound coming from the front caliper and as soon as you release the lever it stops.
Any thoughts of what that buzzing sound could be?

i always change front and rear together...
spongy could be air in line, or your pads are so worn out they just aren't doing their job...
check your lines too, for small leaks or pin holes....
look for uneven pad wear too...indicates sticky pistons...
since front is majority of your stopping power id change them too...
and ive noticed that most new pads are a bit noisy...

thanks for the replies.
No leaks, traced the front brake line for any pin holes or weeping areas but all is bone dry. MC oil level is full, 1/8 inch below the rim.
Just tried the "keep the front brake lever compressed over night" tip to see if any air bubbles would migrate up into the MC. The lever seems back to a normal high position. Will see tomorrow how long this will last. I am suspecting it is only temporary. I am concerned about the buzzing sound i get when pulling on the front brake lever. It almost sounds elecrical? Quite confused with that. It definitely is not the sound of sintered pads. Front pads have about 50% left on them. There does not seem to be a rotor warp issue that I can notice but wont rule that one out. It could be sticky pistons. Do I have to break open the caliper to clean them?
