Default RE: So I rented a RK...

I was able to ride a RK the other day. I noticed the engine shake, but once I throttled it, I never felt it again. Bikes are like comfortable oldshoes. You don't want to wear the new ones because they might be uncomfortable until they are broken in. I would never say I'd not buy a RK because of the shake until I've had more time on it. I'd rather have a bagger - Street Glide than my Softail Standard. Only because the SG provides the goods I want. The engine shake I felt is something I would become accustomed to and probably never pay attention to if it was my only bike. I feel comfortable on mySoftail because I know exactly how it handles. New shoes become old shoes eventually. There's always a different bike around the corner.

Toeach his own - whatever you feel we are all stillHarley riders.

I ride an 07 Fat Boy. However, I would be happy with any 2000 and up Harley (yes incuding pre rubber mounted Sporties) except for a V-Rod (they look good, but rented one and did not love it)! I like em all so much the hardest decision for me was which one to buy. Thank goodness I can only afford one bike payment at a time or my garage would have more than two. My next bike may be a RK, who knows? For now, as the supply and demand curve has lowered the price you can get for selling a used bike, I will hold tight and enjoy what I've got. By the way, Fat Boys can be accessorized to have some good touring aspects such as big bags (once you loose the shotgun pipes), windshield, and air suspension. It is all good - right?

ORIGINAL: Rico450r

I'm kind of confused on all this. I used to own a 2000 zx-6r ninja and after a 25 mile ride my hands vibrated bad. Then about 4 months ago I got to ride a 1996 soft tail and after a 50 mile ride my hands vibrated, but then I got on a 2005 RK classic right after the soft tail and man that thing road so smooth. I barely felt any vibration and I could see out of the mirrors perfect. Plus I thought the RK had a B motor in it and was rubber mounted. Just trying to understand what people are taking about with this vibration with the RK. Beside it being very heavy I thought it road like glass. Just my 2 cents

Rico just an FYI Pre 2000 softtail motors did NOT have a counterbalancer in them and without it they felt like they were going to fall apart!
