Default 2 days with windshield, pros and cons so far

So I got a windshield off ebay for my heritage ($49) and slapped it on. After about 100 miles here are my observations.

PROS:
Much less wind pushing me off the seat on my chest
Relaxed hands
Cold morning commute, shield kept wind off my hands for the most part
Fewer bugs
Less road debris hitting me in the face
Higher speeds are more comfortable
Much less wind noise in 1/2 helmet

CONS:
Buffeting, but if I put my feet on top of the crash bar it mostly goes away
Wind gusts seem to move me around more
Hear engine "things" I never heard before (Paranoid?)
Doesn't look as "sporty"
Drive faster (if that is a con!)
No wind in the face feeling of riding.

For now, I think I will leave it on, at least for the commutes..

In south Florida, the bugs are the big thing for me. If I stay off of the highway, its not bad, but as soon as I have to hit the highway, the shield is on. I think a Heritage just looks right with the shield too.

I love the quick detachable windshield for my Deluxe. I can ride with or without it depending on my style of riding or my mood.

LOL..fact is...I rarely take mine off now...aside from a look cool local breakfast meet. I almost feel naked without it.Besides, I'm not so sure the Heritage or a Luxe make me think of being "sporty" anyway.

The buffeting is a combination of the height of that windshield and your helmet. You may need to try a higher shield, or as you said, just slide down, even try a different helmet if you have a few. I had back and arm fatigue on my Luxe before the back rest and shield...virtually none now on long rides.

I think the heritage/deluxe looks natural with the shield.

I put fork wind deflectors on several wks ago. They transformed the riding experience with MUCH less buffeting from under the windshield.

I got a Fatboy and will never put a shield on it. Someday I'll get a touring bike for the long multi-day trips, but never on Eleanor.

On my Dyna I used to experience a lot of buffeting without a shield on and I only ever took it off once in the year and a half I owned that bike. On my current Fat Boy Lo I experience almost no buffeting and I don't have a shield on it.
