I tried a 18" shield for my new Deluxe and the buffeting was awful. Got the 21" shield and no buffeting, but still too much air hitting me in the face since I'm only 5'4". Another forum member sold me his wind deflectors and now the air is different. The wind is not hitting me in the face. You'll get to where you will not want to take the shield off. And on longer rides, you'll not feel as tired from having the wind pushing you off that seat. I learned that long time ago with a custom windshield for a mid glide front end on a 93 FXLR.
