Anyone used Smartpartz baffle on V&H Quiet baffle?
Hello all!
Well, my bike finally arrived and as soon as Hogpro gets my wheels and air cleaner to me, I'll be rolling it out of the dealership!
My question is, I ordered the V&H Big Shots Staggered pipes with the quiet baffles. I want to further quiet them down with the Smartpartz baffles, which I've heard some good things about. I'm just a little unsure of how well they will really work with the V&H quiet baffles. Smartpartz says it will work, though they say it is "more restrictive". I'm not sure if this means that it isn't really a good option, or what.
Anyone know?
Thanks!

How do you run the Quiet Baffles and the Smartpartz baffles at the same time?
You know...V&H has 2 different Quiet Baffles. One they sell on their website and the other you have to either stop by to get or call them. It's the same baffle they use in their Double Barrel Long Q Series pipes (that's what I have on my Deluxe). You may just need to change your order to get the other set of QB's?

I have V&H Short Shots on my '97 FXD. I've been running the V&H quiet baffles along with the Smartpartz baffles for a while now with no problems. My bike has an S&S carb so I can adjust as needed (haven't had to yet), but the sound is about what I was looking for, I can cruise fairly quiet yet it still sounds loud enough when on the throttle.
The best I can describe the sound level is about in between a loud aftermarket pipe and the newer SE slip-ons. Bear in mind the Short Shots apparently suffer from low backpressure to begin with, so in my case the extra baffling may have actually helped. I can't say what the difference would be on your exhaust.

I run the smartpartz and the quiet baffle in my V&H True Duals.
No problems at all, the combination of smartpartz and quiet baffle might be a bit more restrictive, but still not as bad as the stock mufflers.
The smartpartz baffles actually added some needed extra back pressure. I regained some of the low end torque I lost, I can cruise without getting a head ache after 20 minutes. Still nice bark when cracking the throttle.

Thanks gentlemen, all good info.
Now, I am looking at the V&H baffles and the Smartpartz baffles. As I understand it, I have to drill a hole into the V&H baffle to match up with the Smartpartz baffle.
One problem, it looks like the metal edge isn't even, it won't sit flush, but I think I can use a grinder to take care of that.
But the part I really am not sure of, is that the V&H part has a hole with a nut in it to attach it to the pipe, so the screw hole on the Smartpartz piece has to go through to the side of that. So once the hole is drilled, the V&H part goes into the pipe, line up the hole, the smartpartz part goes in to line up with the same hole, and the screw goes through the pipe, through the V&H baffle and into the Smartpartz baffle, correct?

I drilled a hole in the quiet baffle about 90 degrees of from the extisting one on the quiet baffle in approximately the same distance from the end, made it a bit bigger than needed to make it a bit easier to line up, pushed the QB into the pipe, lined up the new hole, then pushed in the smartpartz one, lined that one up to, then ran the screw through the pipe/QB/smartpartz to hold it all in place. Then you put on the heat shield so everything is covered up.
Do a dry fit of the QB and the smartparts first, one side went in without a problem, but the other one I had to grind down the outside edge of one of the smartpartz baffle, it was just a bit to wide to fit decently. The QBs can be a tight fit too!.
As you mentioned, grind the top of the QBs flat, makes fitment easier.
I also used some anti-seize when I shoved it all in place. Made it easier to do.
If at all possible, mount the baffles with the pipes of the bike! So much easier.

I bought a set of V&H Quiet Baffles last year. How do the Double Barrel Q series baffles differ from their regular quiet baffles? How do they affect performance?
