We went last year was there the day the Dragon opped back up . We road in the rain all day that day. We did the Cherohala Skyway instead. Great ride even in the rain ( It was raining so hard @ times we coulde'nt hardly see the road ) Go to Maggie Vally and stop by Wheels Thru Time ( I think they are closed Tue & Wed)

Been across the 'tail' on my bike and my Corvette. A fun ride for sure. Glad you had great weather for the trip.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt -- and I agree that it's one great ride. Glad you had a good and safe time!

Speaking of the area, Captain, what sort of worthwhile events are going on down there, this summer?

I'm about equally close to TN by either I-65 or I-75, but I lean toward the eastern TN/Dragon area.

I know Cherokee Survivors got cancelled.

Any other big shows or rallies worth visiting? It would be nice to combine a rally, the Dragon, Wheels Through Time, etc.

Default The Dragon!

That's on me bucket list also. Have a trip planned to visit the area in September, combine riding the Dragon with the Skyway, the Parkway, and other awesome rides in the area. Planning on being there to coincide with the Fall Thunder In the Smokies rally, already rented a house for the fun and games!

I recognize that overlook! Probably the most photographed spot on US129.

I don't know the area that well, so I can't give many suggestions.

-Watch your speed. County, State and Federal cops are everywhere

-Watch for bikers, cars, 18-wheelers crossing into your lane

Been there plenty... usually go twice a year! You should also try the Devil's Triangle and Hellbender.... they are in the same area. Hellbender actually is the road you take to get to the Dragon from Fontana Village which is an awesome place to stay.
