Default can SERT's be reused or not?

I have been told both ways. Some say they can be reused and most say they are married to one PCM. Anyone know? thanks

Default RE: can SERT's be reused or not?

everything I've read on them says that they are locked to the VIN of the bike.
I don't know if there is a way to get it "unlocked".

now I also have tuning software for my '98 corvette, it's also VIN locked but they give you the option of adding more VIN's to it to tune more than one vehicle.
I wish the SERT was that flexable.

It is "keyed" to your ECM, must be more than just the VIN. I read a post (somewhere) where a guy had his ECM replaced and his SERT didn't work anymore, even though the dealer put the VIN back in the new ECM. It was warranty work so they returned the ECM and the SERT back to the moco and they re-keyed it. Don't know if the dealer just didn't know how to do it or if they can't do it. I also read that you can use a SERT to send to the ECM but cant "get" from it, don't know if thats true or not, I don't have one, my PC gets me what I want, its cheaper and for what I need it does the job.

The SERT is a dongle, that is married to the ECM serial number.
It cannot be used on any other ecm.

I had a PCIIIr and now have SERT.
