can SERT's be reused or not?

everything I've read on them says that they are locked to the VIN of the bike.
I don't know if there is a way to get it "unlocked".
now I also have tuning software for my '98 corvette, it's also VIN locked but they give you the option of adding more VIN's to it to tune more than one vehicle.
I wish the SERT was that flexable.
