My Fatboy - Fat Tire - Fat Build

RE: My Fatboy - Fat Tire - Fat Build
I got bumped to the top, suppose that means update.....
I got stalled on my bike progress by work again, and spent a month in San Juan,P.R.
Saw one and only one HD the whole time I was there. Makes you appreciate what good roads we enjoy here stateside. I have stories.
Anyway before I left I was getting quotes on having my seat reworked. It is a Corbin solo that had a wide gap in the back since my new fender install(you can see the gap in my sig pix)
quote #1 , local guy said price starts at $1000.
quote #2 , local guy said he would do it for $700.00
quote #3 , left coast guy said price start at $500, but really didn't want to do it since it is completely custom, and doesn't have my bike to fit with.
So $1000, $700, $500, or do it myself.
I'm doing it myself.
I started by modding the Corbin seat pan to fit the contour of my custom fender. It isn't rocket science like the seat guys want you to believe it is, and was fun to do. My pan is finished now.
I have shaved and fine tuned the foam padding, found a great piece of snakeskin embossed tan leather (it's embossed furniture grade leather to look like snake scales), made templates to fit the top and sides, and now it is just a matter of stitching it all up. My next door neighbor has a Phaff leather uphostery machine, he said I can play with it. So I'll give it a shot. I have enough leather to make 3 seats if I mess up.
More later
