My Fatboy - Fat Tire - Fat Build

RE: My Fatboy - Fat Tire - Fat Build
Making progress, the Holidays slowed things down a bit.
I ordered a new tranny pulley because I wasn't happy with the new final ratio that the smaller wheel pulley brought me out on the freeway. And tranny pulleys require special tools, i.e. new baker tranny socket and tranny lock.
Got that all wrapped up and back together. New fender is in, making adjustments, it is a tight fit.
A new LED tail light on order, I'll french the new one in. And, I'll need a full custom seat, no off the shelf will fit this.
But, I have a couple hundred miles on it now and it rides awesome.

I'm finally getting the fender together, it's been a long process but I think it will be worth it.
I designed some fender struts with flame licks, to match my truck. Made a template and sent that to the water jet guy.
So today I started with a fender blank. It is about 220 degrees coverage raw.
Skip ahead a few hours, cutting, fitting, cutting, filing, cutting, measuring...etc
Time for a hard road test. I tried to find some bad dips and bumps to see if the fender would hit anything. No problem at all. Time to figure out where to put the tail light. Notice the trim ring taped to the back.
That is a wide *****
Marked up the placement to cut the hole. Going to french in this light.
And like magic, hole appears. I need to cut the grass.
Hole with light trim ring
And, I welded in nuts for the struts, never again have to fumble around trying to start threads underneath.
Overkill? Absolutely! ButI have a new welder and I'm welding anything and everything with metal content or trace particles
Next on the to-do list:
Weldon the struts some more/grind/finish, then they go off to the plater this week.
Mount ECM to fender.
Prep up the fender and fine tune it, send it to painter.
I'll have the Corbin seat reworked to fit the fender, but I'll wait until the fender comes back from paint.
That's it for now, more later.

So this weekend I finally got everything prepped to go out.
I bought a raw sissy bar for a Big Dog 200 that fits great after modifying some brackets.
Today (Monday) I dropped the struts and sissy bar off at the plater, and dropped the fender off at the painter.
It's been a long time to get to this point, but Milwaukee Iron tripped me up in a big way (another story in itself) , but that's just the way it goes when you deviate from stock parts sometimes.
Talked to the local seat guy, and thinking about doing something probably in croc or lizard. The guy does incredible work and I haven't put too much thought into it.
Next pictures should be a completed project, and I can get some riding in before the rainy season hits here.
But is it ever completed? Probably not.

[sm=icon_guiness.gif] No kidding.. I was hooked on this one as soon as I saw primary guts! These are the kind of threads I love to see.. pictorials of bike-guts.. Good stuff! It's the parts inside the scoot that interest me I think.. I'm afraid I've already seen the best part.. Now it's all chrome and paint I guess. hehe That's okay, I gotta stick around to see how this one turns out.
So Chops, did you find any issues with that the rear tire offset?
It looks as though that rear tire is to the right quite a bit from center.
Any handling issues or alignment issues with the front wheel/tire?

I agree...great stuff.
Can you go a little more in depth on the struts? Did you bend metal or weld and grind or all of the above? What was the process like? Also, I notice the internal support. Is this for added strength to the outer struts, or could you have gone with the internal support only?
