Default Flush mount "blank" replacement for fuel gauge?

I really want a flush mounted gas cap and fuel gauge, except I don't need the fuel gauge now that I have this nifty new speedo/tach combo with a fuel gauge on it.

Nor do I really want to pay for the useless LED gas gauge that will likely fail anyway.

Does anyone make a flush mount kit that is just a blank insert? Or is there a creative solution anyone's thought of?

What if you don't hook it up, does the LEDs show if they are not lit?

the ones on my bike are pretty dark if they're not lit up.. meaning, unless you shine a flashlight directly onto the thing, you can't really see where the LED's would shine through.. so technically, that's an option.

A good enough question. Maybe it comes down to that vs being a cheap bastid not wanting to pay for some electronics that I wont use.

I suspect it will be a cheaper mod that 1. having that void welded closed and painted or 2. making something that will look like the flush mount filler cap but not function like the fuel gauge.

I welded mine shut and welded in a flush mounted cap, not the fast and easy way but the results speak for themselves, bite the bullet this winter and do it the custom way

Since you dont need the gauge to light up maybe someone here has a broken one that you could buy.
