I had the same leak and it cost me a tranny rebuild. I walked into the garage and noticed a small pool of fluid under the primary drain plug. I followed the leak back to the main shaft out of the tranny. When the main bearing went it ate away at the seal which led to an eventual leak. In the meantime, the bearing was disintegrating and trashing my tranny. Apparently the bearing was overstressed due to an overly tight belt from the factory. The strange thing was that I never had any issues with shifting right up to the time I took the bike in. May or may not be your issue but it wouldn't hurt to check your tranny drain plug for excessive metal buildup. If there is, that would be a strong indication that the bearing is shot and it's time to get the bike into the shop.
