I would. Oil Changes are about Mileage AND Time. Sitting in your bike after having put some miles on it before parking it hasn't done your oil any favors. In any event I'd consider it cheap insurance. If you're asking the question it obviously has you just a little bit worried. For the price of an oil change . . . . no worry!

I wouldn't. Any damage by time has already happened due to the acids in the oil; the oil change should have been done before storage.

I tend not to worry and wouldn't change it until the miles were up.

+1 on this. When I lived in NY and Northern Europe, i never changed the engine oil after winter (or before). Never had any damage done.
Would you worry about it if it had been your car? Probably not.

Had mine switched to synthetic at 1,000 miles and now change it at 5,000 miles no matter what time of year it is. I do the tranny & primary at 10,000.

Even though I run full synthetic, I just never manage to get enough riding time to put on the kind of mileage needed to do a 'change by the numbers'.
So I change in before I 'put it away' for winter and within a tank full or two's worth of gas after I start riding it again in spring.
It may be a bit **** to do it that way, but I figure oil is cheaper than repairs and my peace of mind is priceless.
At least it is to me.

Change it yourself, its cheaper that way, lots cheaper, and you won't be bothered worrying about it.

I don't put enough miles on the bike to go by the 5000 miles for syn3, so I change it just before I put it away for winter. For me it will be once a season and the other holes once every 2 seasons.

If you plan of keeping your bike for alot of years, and if you plan on putting 100,000 plus miles on it, I knew of a guy that put over 250,000 miles on an Evo powered Electraglide, he and me change our engine and primary oil every 3000 miles or at 6 months intervals. The gear box every 3000 then after gear box is broken in, about 10,000 miles change the gear box every 6000 miles after that.
But, If your the type of biker that trades or sells your bike every three or four years (like most of the "bikers" now days) then do the extended oil change interval.
Why do you think all the manufactures went to the extended oil change intervals?
To get you (the consumer) to buy another new one every 3 to 5 years.

Oils cheap, filters are cheap. You're not riding anyway, you might as well be changing the oil.

I'm just curious here, how is it that some of you don't put 3-5000 miles on your scoot in a season? Even if I just bar hop on the weekends I rack up that much. Add a few rallies or a charity ride or two and I double it easy.

I'm not judging but living in South Florida, we don't really have a "riding" season other than all the time so seeing 4 year old scoots with 50K on them is not completely unreasonable.
