I am able to take that off no problem, but the rear of the tanks doesn't move at all when I lift on it. Guess I need to give it a little more elbow grease. I thought the rear would move easier if that was the correct nut.

There is another bolt under the gray trim piece that holds the back of the tank down.
With mine, I had the visible bolt that took the seat off then under it, was another bolt for the tank. It took me a few minutes to notice it after I kept trying to tug on the tank thinking the first bolt was for the tank as well as the seat.
Do I need to take the gray trim piece off to get to that? I am not able to get an open end wrench on the square nut inside the tube. There is barely enough room between the side of the tube and nut for a small flat tip screw driver to fit.
You need to remove that top nut. It's what holds the rear of the dash panel down. Remove the dash by removing that nut and the torx bolt holding the front of the dash.
Under it is the nut that holds the rear of the tank down.
Perfect, I had the torx bolt and the other bolt off thinking that would get me access to the rear tank bolt, but that dash panel was not coming off easily. So I stopped because I didn't want to force the dash panel and break something. I figured I would look like a real idiot riding around with 1/2 a dash panel.
You'll have enough free play on the dash wiring to lift the dash to clear loosening the rear tank nut.
An open end wrench works best for both nuts. I think the top is a 9/16" and the lower is a 1/2".
