Default Softail BCM Recall, how did it go for you, not so good for me.

Just wondering, for those of you that had to bring in your bike to the dealer to have the BCM recall done, did you have any problems?

I brought in my Heritage last Thursday for the recall. When I went to start the bike after it was done, the bike would start, but then immediately die. Turns out that the Tech forgot to "marry" the BCM with the bikes computer after he switched BCM's.

So, no problem, everyone makes mistakes, after the Tech did some more work on the computer, the bike started and ran fine and off I went.

Just noticed this morning though that the Security System isn't working, the bike will start without the Fob being present

So, gotta bring it back tomorrow. Trying to give the dealership and the Tech the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully, after tomorrow, all will be good.

My recall appointment was a cake walk, but I don't have the security system. Maybe they installed the wrong BCM?

I'm pretty sure they make a BCM for "factory security" and "without factory security" maybe that's the issue. Don't know why that would be, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

You guys might be right, I just checked the parts manual for my bike and it lists two different part #'s for the BCM. One for bikes with security systems and one for bikes without security.

Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I think its a case of wrong part. There was another guy that had the same problem about a week or two ago. The same thing happened...he took it in for the recall, then the security stopped working....I don't know if it got resolved. Mine is getting done while they are putting my apes on.....but I don't have ABS or the security system.

The recall only had to do with bikes that have a security system installed from the factory.

BCM is the body control module...according to total recalls website, harley is recalling CERTAIN 2011 model softails that are equipped with factory installed security system...these were manufactured between june and october of 2010.

I don't have the security system installed on my bike and I got a recall notice....? I had the dealer make sure that I had to have it replaced (if it aint broke don't fix it) and they said yes. They give the VIN of the bike, then HD send the new unit it out....or so I was told.
