Went to 12.5" apes. Back and Wrist pain seems to be gone now.

I have the 10' Fatboy lo with the stock bars, I've got 12000 miles on it and haven't had any real discomfort with the bars. I got a SaddleSore 1000 under my belt and even after that, the bars didn't seem to bother me. For me, it's the Seat... the Seat after 5 or 600 miles gets a little "tough". So I've been happy with the stock bars and setup.

Each to his own "design" and you gotta just get out there ride..!

I just got 4.5 inch risers and that did it for me. I like the stock Fatboy bars. Mine's an 04.

I have a '10 lo and the stock bars had me hunched and my arms kinked. In the showroom every bike I sat on did (new and used), I am only 5'9" but apparently wide shouldered and long torso'd. I put on some 12" mini-apes because this is my first Harley and I had never ridden with apes before. That helped straighten my back and stretch my arms. The only regret is that I didn't put on 16" apes. Even with the mini-apes pushed forward (vertical) my hands are well below my shoulders and on long rides I start hunching and feel it when I step off.
The best advice I can give you is when it comes to bars take your time and find the right ones, they are costly to buy and more costly to install if you can't do it yourself. Good luck and let us know how it works out.
Ride on!

Bummer, I guess no one has tried out the Street Slammers. I like the look, and they felt good trying them out at the dealer, but that only shows sitting for a couple minutes.

My Heritage had wide beach bars on it when I bought it and I thought they would be one of the first things I changed. Surprisingly they're pretty comfortable, no wrist pain, no backaches and no shoulder aches. The only problem I have is my fingers go numb but that should go away with the warmer weather.

I am considering drag bars...I like the looks of them and I think they will result in a more neutral angle on my wrists while riding.

Comments?

BTW, I have a pretty long reach and I think this may contribute to the wrist angle problem.

is it wierd that i've been researching bars the last few days to correct this same problem . the heal of my right palm aches almost instantly up on the highway. its not so bad around town since you're always on and off the throttle. I stopped by the dealer the other day just to see what they had and surprisingly they now have a fitment center for seats and bars. i like the more laid back ride and the mini-apes seem to be the best fit. it gives more pullback and turns the grips outwards by about 2", which is perfect to get my hands straight with the bars.

I just hate to think that i'll have to take the 4" pullback risers off after everything i went through to get them. I think if i use the 4" riser i will definitley need new cables, if i go back to the stock riser there may be enough slack for the mini's.
