Default Heritage passenger pillion

Got a 2010 Heritage and was wondering about upgrading the passenger pillion. I've looked at the one Harley makes but was wondering. Is it an upgrade, comfort wise, or is it just adding studs?

I have the upgraded pillion and backrest on mine, and seems to be a lot better seat than the OEM one plus i think it also looks better. The only thing ive ran into is the backrest is so wide i have trouble with my luggage packs straps wont reach around it.

Got the "upgrade" pillion for the wife. It IS NOT an upgrade as far as comfort goes. It does look better and is wider than the stock pillion, but she's only good for about 30-45 minutes before a break is necessary. After that, there's A LOT of squirming going on behind me. She doesn't like the stock one either, and says there isn't ANY difference between the two. That both are like riding a board. So, the search continues. Post up if you find one that is worth the money.

The studded pillion is just wider, as far as I can tell. My wife liked the original and the new one. The studded backrest upgrade for my '06 is wider and curved to cradle the back more. The original was flat. My wife liked the first one but loves the second one.

My wife was uncomfortable on the stock heritage pillion. I sent it to a company that installed a gel pad under the stock cover. It's better but she still is not real comfortable after an hour or so. The trick with her is to make frequent stops before she starts to hurt. Also I think that the passenger foot peg position makes a difference. If her feet are higher it means more pressure on the butt and tailbone.
