So, I finally put samson fishtail pipes on my deluxe and it is very cool looking and sounds great! My new problem is that I am 5' tall and the pipe on the left side burns my leg. It protrudes out so that my left thigh has to lay right on it. And man does it get hot. Help! Any suggestions are welcome!

Get soem Harley goodies floorboard extensions. They will move your boards out to the sides so that your feet will rest out a bit further keeping them from getting burned.

Even at 5'11" coming to a stop if I put my leg down near the bike vs away from the bike I burn my leg. Are you burning your leg with regular riding or when you put your leg down? Guessing it could be both because you are reaching for the shift peg. The extensions might help.

From the looks of it the link hdgzr listed might work out better.

 

Since the Samson left crossover pipe is tucked in farther than any other brand i have a suggestion. Your rear left pipe may not be inserted into the "U" pipe fully to make the pipe tuck in to its best position. If the pipe is tucked in so far that it can not get any closer then the rear left pipe is installed correctly. It sounds like a readjustment may be in order. I found that when I first installed my samson true duals the left side pipe was angles slightly outward from back to front. I loosened the clamp that joins the u-pipe and the left side header and was able to slide it in tighter. Long way of saying try what samson tech suggested.

 

I never had an issue burning my leg when I ran the fishtails, and I am 5'9". Maybe a proper tuning or tuner will help cool the bike down a bit as well.

I have the same setup on my Deluxe. Harley Goodies Floorboard Extentions will get you legs away from the pipes by an 1.5 inches per side, whick may not seem like a lot, but it does wonders....

Are you wearing long pants? Get a tuner and a good tune or an auto tuner to cool the bike down.
