I love the the 585's would use them again. There is no gear noise heard over the exhaust. I went with the gear drives so I wouldnt have to mess the cam tensions. Make sure who ever does your work checks the crank runout. I bought the Fueling cam support plate, oil pump, lifter kit from Americanclassicmotors on Ebay for $715. The part number is 7070. I bought the S&S 585 Easy start gear driven cams kit that includes the gears for $690 plus $10 shipping on Ebay from Bkrider. The part number is 106-5247. S&S techs told me the cams will start pulling hard at about 1500 with the big bore and keep pulling hard past 6000.

 

I would look hard at T-man performance for an upgrade and possibly heads too. Real nice guys to deal with.

After looking at the different options, I may go with the Andrews conversion and 21N cams. The more I read, the more confusing it gets.
