In case you missed it: "I have an 08 and I don't think fifth gear is all that loud so if yours is "screaming" then I would certainly be concerned."

I don't normally reply like this, but I think you should get a good night's sleep and try asking the same question again.

I have a 2011 Fatboy and no noticeable sounds in 5th gear...but why not be reasonable and wait until 1k to take it in and let the service department eliminate the possibility of a new transmission being noisy, it's a fairly objective thing too depending on what your rode before.

I wouldn't think they're ready to simply replace a transmission $$$ for an owners noise observance without some due diligence on a new bike. Heck, you should put 1K in within a month with a new bike anyway.

It's still under warranty and problem is already documented. Breaking open a transmission is a little more involved than adjusting the clutch play so I can completely understand where they are coming from.

As the poster above said I think you should get a good night's sleep and maybe repost the question at a later date.

If it doesn't sound right don't let the stealer tell you to wait. If it was a car dealer would u let them tell u the same thing. Fix now....Y WAIT DOESN'T MAK SENSE TO PUT IT OFF!

Try buying a new car then telling the dealer it doesn't sound quite right in 5th gear so they need to pull the tranny pronto and check all the gear fittings - report back the results...

not to hi-jack the thread but I'm a tech at a car dealer and if we can duplicate the noise, the trans comes out. we don't get paid if we don't fix stuff. telling someone to come back in 1k miles doesn't pay very well.

The 07 had an issue when they 1st came out,,,, mostly noticed on the touring bike, with lowers..

out Heritage had a little but never was it an issue and now it all but gone at 30k....

I'd just do what they say and ride her and then check it out at the 1k...

OP asked one question that sounded bogus and never came back. How surprising.
