Default 200/55 17 on a Deuce

I have a 2002 Deuce that I am currently running the stock rear wheel and the 180/60x17 Screamin Eagle tire on.

I would like to run the 200/55x17 tire that the 2006 and up Softails are running.

I've seen posts where people change rear fenders and run a 200 tire, usually an 18" on an aftermarket wheel.

I want to keep the stock rear fender, and either keep my stock Deuce wheel, or switch it out to a later model Softail Custom (FXSTC) wheel and pulley (which used the 200/55x17 tire).

Has anyone done this? And if so can you break down for me what I would need to do it?

Thanks!

If i'm not mistaken, i think i've read somewhere that to go to a 200 tire, you need to change the pulley and belt to a narrower belt setup, and change your spaces (obviously).. as for doing anything to the swingarm/fender, I'm not sure about that

Thanks for the reply.

I know about changing to the narrower pulley and belt. Its all the other clearances that I am wondering about. Fender, swingarm, caliper, etc.

Any help is appreciated!

you need the 07 night train narrower belt and pulley, probably a pulley spacer from Drag Specialties, you work out the width pulley after wheel is on the bike with new pulley
you move the pulley to the position were it clears the tire on one side and swing arm on the other, i have this on my deuce and an 18x5.5 rim i did it along time ago i think
the 18 rim was so you didn't have an issue with the caliper ,a wider 17 rim would contact caliper the 18x5.5 clears the caliper

Have you ever thought about just converting a Rocker into a Deuce . You’ll get a 240 rear tire and just have the change the tank Console and front fork lowers .
And you’ll also benefit from the Rockers larger motor and a six speed transmission .
