Default Side mount plate. Yay or Nay?

Just installed the Tri-bar LED and am now thinking of picking up a Road Six axle mount plate holder. It would show more of the wide tire and maybe look cleaner. What do you guys think?

Bureau of Motor Vehicles says:
(b) A license plate shall be securely fastened, in a horizontal position, to the vehicle for which the plate is issued:
(1) to prevent the license plate from swinging;
(2) at a height of at least twelve (12) inches from the ground, measuring from the bottom of the license plate.

Not sure how strict they are on this law...

Love the look of my side mount check local stats so you don't get hassled and or
check out these guys. If it ever comes to it I'd switch to one of these and get the best of both worlds.

My state laws make the one you mentioned a better choice, but the price just went WAY up for what it is...

I say it's up to you. Sometimes on stock fenders I think it makes the fender look too far out without the plate under it. Just my opinion. I'm keeping mine as is on my deuce for that reason. On your train, may be a diff story

Love mine! It's not horizontal but it's a sturdy one piece design and can't imagine it ever breaking off. I say go for it!

I ran a Heartland side mount that was definitely illegal here in CA for nearly a year without issue and I ride daily. We have the smae law for license plates here. I do much prefer one of the nicer models of a side mount plate as it really makes a difference in how it looks. The road 6 customs one just do not do it for me at all. If I am going to do it, I am going to do it right.
