This is about my 2005 Fat Boy SE

I may of given bad information when I said my rear blinkers did not have to be moved, when my detachable sissy bar was installed.
When I bought the bike I had them add the detachable sissy bar. I don't know if they had to relocate the signals further back or not.
The center of the holes that my rear signals are plugged into now are 1/2" from the end of the fender strut. There is another hole location with a chrome cap plugging it that is 1 1/2" forward of the aft end of the fender strut.
The rear mount for the detachable hardware is located 2 1/4" forward of the aft end of the strut.

This is the fix I came up with. It's cost effective, works great, and is not easy to steal (without tools).

It sounds like your T/S were relocated by the dealer with the HD relocation kit if you have the HD quick detach sissy bar they must be relocated to make room for the sideplates. I also have a 05 FLSTFI Annv Model and the measurements that you gave and description are not the stock location. Are the stalks (mounts) from struts to the bullet kind of round instead of oval , the HD relocation kit changes the stalks to a more round shape and moves the TS back about a 1 1/2.

I also saw on another thread that you were installing saddlebags, if you have the TS relocated on the strut you may not need to move them again to get those bags to fit.

 

Here's a pic of my rear strut and turn signal.

You can see the stud that protrudes from the strut for the detachable side plate and you can see the original hole for the directional that is now capped. Hey check it out, you can even see me takin the pic!

When I ordered the saddle bags from Iron Bags there tech, Max, thought the bags would fit, without relocating the turn signals.
They can position the bags far enough forward on a 2005 Fat Boy to clear the turn signals. He called me back later and said since I have the SE version with the chrome trim around the seat, I had a choice of removing the chrome trim or relocating the turn signals.
I opted on leaving the chrome trim as is and relocating the signals. I have ordered mini bullet LED lights that attach to the end of the fender strut. They will use the same aft hole but are a lot smaller and mount flush against the strut. The measuring I did looks like they should allow enough clearance for the bags. I also had to order a load equalizer since I was changing lights, so I went with the Tailbone converter that has a built in load equalizer,plus adds running light and stop light function to the signals. It is suppose to be an easy plug in type installation.
