Tried it today for the 1st time on the hwy and got to say it was a very unpleasant experience for me. Didn't like the dirt in the face, couldn't even hear the bike b/c of the wind noise, had white knuckle ride to hang on from the wind, couldn't hear cars coming up on me etc.....

Got to say there wasn't anything about riding on the hwy that I liked without my shield.

I don't mind the cruising around the side roads without it but that's about it.

I do however respect the he** out of you guys that do ride without it on the hwy because to me that is hard core!

 

ive never owend a sheild till last year! i usualy prefer not to have one unless im on a long trip. i love the wind but hate the bugs and the occasional rock that gets chucked at me!! lol!! usualy though my sheild just sits in the garage!

 

Sometimes I wish I had one but will never own one. Atleast not on the deuce. Maybe someday when I go for comfort, not looks.

 

I rock the Ipod when I'm doing anything more than bopping around town or riding to and from work. Anything more than 20mins requires music! As far as getting hit with crap in the face... it sure isnt pleasant but I wont rock a shield on my train and have no interest in a full face. When I eventually pick up a deluxe I will definitely rock a shield.

 

I don't have a windshield. However when I take a long trip I just wear the full face to protect me from bugs and things like that.

 

No shield. I like the wind, usually not an issue below 65 mph, but recently got a pair of Iplugz monitors to listen to music and block out the wind damage on my ears. Figured if I had to plug my ears, might as well have some music to listen to.

I did have some huge bug of some kind knock me in the chest years ago and knocked the wind out of me. Had to pull off and catch my breath.

 

Got a bee stuck between my face and the helmet strap. He was still stuck in my face when a stopped, lol.

No shield, no problem.

 

I have a love/hate relationship with it. I wish like the devil I didnt need it. For me, the noise of the wind is *painful*. I'm trying to mitigate tho, I got a pair of custom ear plugs made at the international bike show, got a 1/2 helmet with a pull down shield, etc.

I'm going to try to do more shield-less riding around town (when it gets warmer), but for long highway trips, its just necessary for me, but I guess I'm a wimp.
